The New York State Beauty School Association serves beauty school owners, teachers and students to secure cooperation and improvement of the beauty industry. Our association has been a forerunner in the beauty education industry since its inception in 1933.

BUILD NETWORKS

Our members have networks they can rely on in times of need. As members and school owners we work with each other in times of question and uncertainty within our schools.

STAY INFORMED

Regulations and rules change sometimes faster than it is possible to disseminate what the meaning behind a regulation was in the first place. The NYSBSA and its members and Government relations people help the school understand the effects these changes will have on our students and the way we conduct business in New York State.

EDUCATION FOR EDUCATORS

The NYSBSA sponsors continuing education for instructors on a quarterly basis as well as an annual instructors’ seminar held in NYC every year, with speakers that not only inform but motivate our instructional teams. Please see the Teacher Training page for more information.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD

We recommend, institute and maintain, in fullest possible cooperation with the State Education Department and other segments of the industry, such methods of operational standards in the beauty schools that will result in a high degree of proficiency in their students. We exchange technical and commercial information with all key elements in the industry. NYSBSA also has a lobby firm and member representatives in key positions to represent schools, educators and students in all state and national legislative issues.

  • Creative/Artistic – a beauty career is a creative and artistic career choice.

  • Flexible Hours – a beauty career choice offers flexible hours.

  • Individuality – a beauty career offers individuality.

  • Rewards – with a beauty career – the more effort put in the more rewards received.

NEW YORK STATE BEAUTY SCHOOL ASSOCIATION

Serving owners, teachers and students to secure cooperation and improvement of the beauty industry.

We serve, foster and advance the best interests of proprietary beauty schools, their teachers, students and graduates, by encouraging high educational standards and business practices on the part of its members.

The New York State Beauty School Association has been a forerunner in the Beauty Education Industry since its inception in 1933. More history coming soon.

The NYSBSA monitors regulation and rule changes that affect our schools. We provide members with up-to-the-minute accounts and interpretations of these changes.

The NYSBSA has a legislative team made up of Anthony Civitano, Anthony Fragomeni, and Raymond Testa. This team is expanded on when certain issues arise and other volunteers from the association join when there is an area of expertise that they can lend a hand too. Amongst others, the team is supported by lobbyist Diana Georgia from the lobbying firm Marsh, Wassermann, and McHugh LLC. Additionally, our association has a voice from Dorothy Soressi who sits on the Advisory Council to the Department of State, and Anthony Civitano who sits on the Advisory Board to the State Education Department. We review and disseminate information that affects the schools and students that attend. We also take up issues that affect licensed professionals in New York State.
